PRO-Cor attributes decrease in crime volume to anti-illegal drugs drive

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Jan 19 (PIA) -- The leadership of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-Cor) believes that its accomplishments particularly the significant decrease of crime volume and the increase of crime solution efficiency for 2017 are due to the effective anti-illegal drugs campaign in the region.

PRO-Cor Regional Director PCSupt. Elmo Francis Sarona reported during the PRO-Cor New Year’s Call at the Camp Bado Dangwa last week that PRO-Cor has recorded significant decrease in crime volume by 35.41 percent with a reduction of 4,590 incidents.

Based on records, the crime volume in the region has gone down from 12,964 incidents in 2016 compared to 8,374 incidents in 2017. Index crimes decreased by 58.10 percent with a reduction of 2,318 incidents while non-index crimes also dropped by 25.32 percent or decrease of 2,272 incidents.

The Crime Solution Efficiency in the Cordillera, on the other hand, had increased to 12.6 percent in 2017 compared to 2016 figures.

Sarona said that the notable decrease in crime volume and increase in Crime Solution Efficiency are attributed to the strict and religious implementation of Project Double Barrel and the execution of programs to pre-empt focus crimes and motor vehicle riding criminals.

“The achievement of the PRO-Cor is due to the effective anti-illegal drugs campaign in the Cordillera region since most of the crimes noted in the region are drug-related,” he said as he commended the members of the PRO-Cor for their efforts.

Sarona called on the Cordillera police force to surpass their 2017 performance. “Let us show that Team Cordillera is unique, more dedicated and will lead the way especially for 2018. Let us give back to the people of Cordillera a genuine gratitude through making ourselves as an effective instrument to improve the quality of life of the people in this part of the country. Let us continue our good deeds and improve on aspects we failed to shine on last year,” Sarona said in his New Year’s Call message. Redjie Melvic Cawis (JDP/RMC- PIA-CAR)
