Benguet PLGU conducts financial skills training for coop sector

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Aug. 25 (PIA) - - Trainings to enhance cooperative know how are sustained in the province to properly equip and boost cooperative groups such as in  their financial records which is the life of their business.

Last August 23 and 24, more than a hundred provincial participants in the cooperative sector attended training on Basic Accounting and Bookkeeping at the Capitol under the auspices of the provincial government thru the Cooperative Development Service Unit.

The training was aimed to help the participants in the recording and reporting of the financial results of their daily business transactions and strengthen their bookkeeping skills.

Governor Crescencio Pacalso said the book of accounts is the lifeblood of their business which determines if their coop is gaining or otherwise. He expressed hope that with the training, the participants will run good their respective coops and share their learnings to those who have not joined.

A good track record and performance is a basis should the coop decide to a file a loan application in the future, said Pacalso.

Board member Robert Namoro stressed to the participants the need for continuing their education in enhancing their knowledge and skills as this would redound to their coops.

With the trainings accorded to them, he hopes other groups will also be encouraged and convert and join the coop movement.

The training was  an offshoot of the earlier training last June 16 on Revised Standard Chart of Accounts for Cooperatives  which  all types of cooperatives registered with the Cooperative Development Authority will  use  for standard and sound accounting and financial reporting.Susan C.
