BAGUIO CITY, Feb. 8 (PIA) –About 90 percent of the municipal and city local government units (LGUs) in the Cordillera region are implementing programs and services that promote the well-being of children, and are set to receive the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG).
San Quintin and Villaviciosa in the province of Abra topped the list based on the 2017 results of the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit. Other municipalities in Abra to be conferred with the SCFLG are Bucloc, Tubo, La Paz, San Juan, Danglas, Sallapadan, Licuan-Baay, Peñarrubia, Pilar, Bucay, Malibcong, Daguioman, Bangued, Dolores, Lacub, Boliney, Luba, Pidigan, Tineg, Manabo, Tayum, and Lagayan.
All the municipalities of Apayao (Luna, Santa Marcela, Conner, Kabugao, Calanasan,Pudtol, and Flora); Kalinga( Pinukpuk, Balbalan, Lubuagan, Tinglayan, Rizal, Pasil, and Tanudan) and Ifugao( Mayoyao, Lagawe, Kiangan, Banaue, Alfonso Lista, Lamut, Aguinaldo, Hungduan, Hingyon, Tinoc, and Asipulo) are included in the list of SCFLG recipients.
In Benguet, the towns of Buguias, La Trinidad, Mankayan, Kibungan, Itogon, Tublay, Atok, Sablan, Kapangan, Bakun, Tuba, and Kabayan will also be recognized for supporting child-friendly communities. Jamie Joie Malingan (JDP/JJM-PIA-CAR)
