After the establishment of Shared Services Facilities (SSF) among cooperators and conducting entrepreneurial mentoring to Cordillera micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Department of Trade and Industry-CAR is set to hold an SSF and MSME Development Summit on November 7 and 8 2017 in Baguio City .
DTI-CAR Regional Director Myrna Pablo announces that this twin event which will happen at the Hotel Supreme will be a “Big Push” for the SME Program which aims to increase competence and competitiveness of MSMEs in the region.
Pablo stressed that the Summit intends to position Cordillera’s MSMEs at the forefront of the ASEAN Economic Community’s (AEC) priority of “inclusive, innovation-led growth” agenda aside from serving as a platform for sharing best practices among successful entrepreneurs in the country.
On November 7, the MSME Development Summit will start at around 9:00AM with the opening remarks of Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan followed by the keynote speech by DTI Undersecretary Zenaida C. Maglaya, the guest of honor and speaker. The morning session includes a forum on Promoting MSMEs for ASEAN Prosperity which will have Baguio Congressman Marques Go and brand specialist and designer Brian Tenorio as speakers. This shall be followed by panel discussion on the 7Ms Towards Prosperity in ASEAN with Atty. Alexander Bangsoy and Engr. Mark Joseph Lacambra. A press conference with Usec Zenaida C. Maglaya and other officials is likewise scheduled at noon break.
The afternoon session of the first day will tackle Mastery and Mentoring toward Competitiveness and Resillience and Accessing Domestic-Regional Markets and Overcoming Money Hurdles with speakers Restina Morados, Dr. Roberto Kalugdan, Gladys V. De Vera, Ma. Elena Gomez, Regina Madio and Dr. Virgilio C. Bautista. Other topics to be discussed by experts are; Machines & Proactive Business Models Toward Productive and Responsive and MSMEs by Sam Christopher Lim of the ASEAN, Philippine Franchise Association and Edmark H. Bustos of Amare, La Cusina.
The first day session will end with the topic “Way Forward for ASEAN MSME Development” by Director Jerry T. Clavesillas of the DTI Bureau of MSME Development with the closing message of Juan dela Cruz Vice-Chairperson, RSMEDC.
The SSF Summit on November 8, also at Hotel Supreme expects more participation from the cooperators in the region as they will discuss national and regional performance with DTI officials led by Regional Operations Group Assistant Secretary Blesila Lantayona who will also deliver the inspirational message
A video presentation of nominees of performing SSF projects in the region, awarding of best SSF projects in CAR including logos and taglines will highlight the morning session. The afternoon session will be devoted to testimonials and presentation of guidelines of the transfer of SSF to eligible cooperators and culminates with recognition of CAR SSF RTWG, speakers and special guests.
