BAGUIO CITY, Oct. 6 (PIA) -- A building and construction exhibit kicked off last week to link suppliers to its consumers and at the same time, provide free education units for professionals here.
Baguio City Councilor Leandro Yangot, Benguet District Engineer Romelda Bangasan and Architect May Rose Carreon on Thursday, cut the ribbon to formally open the fifth edition of the Northern Building Exposition or the NorthBuildEx 5 at the Baguio Convention Center.
Carreon, organizer of the event, said this is the only building and construction expo north of Manila which links suppliers reach a wider market for their goods and services and give a good deal to consumers for building materials.
She said that in the previous expositions, they selected beneficiaries to be given support. This year the expo focuses on helping their fellow engineers and architects get the necessary units for their renewal of licenses.
The Professional Regulatory Commission mandates that professionals continue to enhance their knowledge of their profession thru Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program under Republic Act 10912.
Carreon explained that with this new requirement by the PRC, architects and engineers are required to earn 15 CDP credits units per year as condition for the renewal of their license.
NorthBuildEx, she reported, has already processed its accreditation with the PRC as CPD provider north of Manila.
Carreon said that the 3-day expo give at least 16 CPD units and at least four units are provided for free.

Yangot also commended the organizers of the expo for continuously bringing exhibitors from Manila to the city of Baguio giving opportunity for the local industries including households to look into innovations in the construction industry.
