BAGUIO CITY, August 11, (PIA) -- More stakeholders from Baguio City and Benguet pitched in their support for the Palarong Pambansa 2018 hosting bid recently.
Local government units, regional line agencies, civil society organizations and other socio-economic-political groups including the academe and business sectors in Baguio City and Benguet pledge their support for the bid of the “Coolest Palaro Ever” which is eyed to be co-hosted for the first time by the city government of Baguio and the province of Benguet.
Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan; La Trinidad, Benguet Mayor Romeo Salda; Benguet provincial administrator Noel Ngolob; and Department of Education (DepEd)–CAR Regional Director May Eclar led more than a hundred stakeholders in signing the Pledge of Commitment in the hopes that the two LGUs will win the bid of largest sports meet in the country next year.
DepEd-CAR and the local government officials have expressed readiness in the hosting of the Palaro as they have already submitted the letter of intent of hosting the Palaro with Baguio and Benguet as co-host.
Director said she is delighted with the support being poured by the LGUs together with the various stakeholders. She said that the preparation and the effort being shown is not only for the bid to win as host but for the hosting of the Palaro itself.
In his message, Mayor Domogan thanked the various stakeholders for the unity and support they are giving for the DepEd and the LGUs. He said that the unity of the people of Baguio, Benuet and the Cordillera will ensure that the hosting will be given to Baguio and Benguet.
Domogan stressed that despite being a first time bidder, Baguio-Benguet have a good chance of winning the bid due to the many reasons Baguio and Benguet has to offer. This has been placed in presentation to be given to the DepEd committee which is dubbed as the “10 hottest reasons why Baguio and Benguet for the Palaro 2018.”
“We are confident that our bid will be given favorable consideration by the Palarong Pambansa Technical Evaluation Committee headed by DepEd,” Domogan said.
For the part of Benguet, Provincial Administrator Noel Ngolob relayed the message of Governor Crescencio Pacalso stressing that the Province of Benguet will give the optimum support for the hosting of the Palarong Pambansa together with the city of Baguio.
Ngolob said that the province of Benguet also are encouraging its citizenry to pledge their commitment to ensure that the national games will be held in Baguio City and Benguet.

The police officials said that aside from ensuring the safety and security of the delegates, they will also be ensuring smooth flow of traffic particularly in the city of Baguio and the presence of police officers and the force multipliers in the different strategic areas in Baguio and La Trinidad.
Meanwhile, World Class athletes, One Championship Lightweight Champion Eduard Folayang and World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship gold medalist Joerdan Dominguez also pitched in their support to the Palaro bid. Daniel Codamon
