BAGUIO CITY, July 30 (PIA) -- The Department of Education in the Cordillera region is calling for unity and support among the different sectors for the bid to host the 2018 Palarong Pambansa in the City and Benguet.
DepEd-CAR Regional Director May Eclar said they are working closely with the local government units of Baguio City and Benguet together with the other line agencies and private sectors to work on the bid proposal to ensure that Baguio City and Benguet will be hosting the Palarong Pambansa 2018.
Eclar said that they are spearheading an aggressive campaign since this is the first time for the Cordillera region particularly for Baguio City and Benguet to co-host the Palarong Pambansa and “we need all the support from all sectors.”
“We are trying to involve all other sectors to ensure that we will win the bid and we will host the Palarong Pambansa 2018,” said Eclar.
In the coming days, the DepEd with the Baguio and Benguet LGUs would invite more stakeholders in a forum to ask for support for the bid proposal.
DepEd-CAR Information Officer Georaloy Palao-ay said they came up with a committee that would look and strategize on how the bid proposal will be created.
With Baguio and Benguet’s year-round temperate climate and unique culture, they are presenting the tag “Coolest Palaro” to convince the DepEd and the Palaro Board to choose the highlands as the next venue of the biggest sports event of the agency.
Several committees are also formed and are threshing out the different concerns of the Palarong Pambansa including the venues, facilities and equipment for the events and accommodation of thousands of participants ,peace and order situation, traffic congestion and other challenges.
