BAGUIO CITY, May 15 - -The Regional Development Council–Cordillera Administrative Region (RDC-CAR) recently gathered together local and regional planners to discuss various development issues and concerns affecting the region.
With the theme, “PagsulongngPag-unlad at Autonomiya para samatatag, maginhawa, at panatagnabuhaysa Cordillera”, the Planners Conference served as a venue to disseminate the newly crafted CAR Regional Development Plan 2016-2022 and its accompanying Regional Development Investment Program 2016-2022 and other advocacies.
RDC-CAR Chairman and Baguio City Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan welcomed the participants who came from all over the region while National Economic and Development Authority Dir. Milagros A. Rimando expounded on the rationale and objectives of the conference.
The CAR RDP was presented by NEDA Assistant Regional Director Jedidia Aquino. Other plans / advocacies of the Regional Development Council-CAR presented included the Declaration of Principles on Environmental Governance, Coffee Development Plan 2016-2022, SPCAR Roadmap 2017-2019, the Investment Priorities Plan 2015-2016, the Regional Research Agenda 2015-2016, the Energy Master Plan, and the Alternative Transport Plan. These were presented to obtain inputs for its updating from the Local Government Units and Regional Line Agencies.
In the afternoon, a workshop was held where issues and concerns of the LGUs plus the actions and interventions desired from the RDC-CAR and the regional and national government agencies were presented. Representatives from DILG, DENR, DSWD, DPWH, DOH, DTI, DOT, DA, BLGF, and NEDA were present to respond to local/ provincial concerns. Mr.LemuelDimagiba and Ms.Zenaida Go, both from NEDA Regional Development Staff also responded to some of the issues brought forth by the local development planners.
Of the eighty-five participants who attended the event from all provinces, city and municipalities,47 are local planners from the provinces and municipalities, 3 are from state colleges and universities (BSU, KSU, and MPSPC) and the rest are from the regional line agencies. Provincial Planning Development Officers (PPDOs) Henry Caluduccan (PPDO-Apayao), Ms. Lily Rose Kollin (PPDO-Mountain Province) attended while the rest of the provinces sent their PPDO representatives namely,Mr. Edgardo Daria, Jr. (Abra), Ms. Susana Padio (Benguet), Ms.JolizaDulinayan (Ifugao), and Ms. Cynthia Imperial (Kalinga).
