BANGUED, Abra, May 30 (PIA) -- To ensure that old pensioners continue to enjoy their pensions, personnel of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) - La Union branch travelled to the province for the Annual Pensioners’ Information Revalidation (APIR) program.
On May 21 to 22, pensioners personally appeared at the Provincial Capitol Atrium for the APIR.
The GSIS started implementing the APIR program on March 23, 2018 and will run until the end of June of this year.
GSIS-La Union OIC Branch Manager Kristine Joi G. Macam said the APIR program aims to validate the pensioners’ identity and guarantee that pension benefits are paid to rightful pensioners.
“We need to ensure and guarantee that pension benefits are paid to rightful pensioners,” she said.
All GSIS pensioners are required to personally appear at any GSIS office to activate their status to ensure non-interruption of their monthly pension benefits.
Macam further explained that the APIR program is a prudent means to safeguard the actuarial life of the pension fund and make it stronger and enough to sustain the existing, as well as the future generation of pensioners.
Failure to do the APIR will mean suspension of their pension effective July 2018.
Furthermore, GSIS pensioners are directed to validate their UMID card to the GSIS Kiosk on any day of their birth month. Maria Teresa B. Beñas (ALT/MTBB – PIA CAR, Abra)
