BANGUED, Abra, May 7 (PIA) -- The Abra Police Provincial Office conducted a random drug testing to 350 police personnel as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) internal cleansing program particularly aimed at ferreting out drug-using police officers.
This is in compliance with the directive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to cleanse the ranks from officers down to the lowest rank as part of the PNP internal cleansing strategy.
Abra Provincial Police Office Information officer, Police Senior Inspector Marcy Grace Marron stated that more internal cleansing operations like this will restore and uphold the integrity of the organization and public trust with the conduct of mandatory drug tests among all personnel and intensified efforts to eradicate illegal drugs as majority of heinous crimes in the country are drug-related.
Marron added that police officers tested with positive results will undergo a confirmatory drug testing at the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
As a matter of policy, those found positive for illegal drug use and involvement in illegal drug syndicates shall be sanctioned accordingly. All police officers with positive result after the confirmatory drug test will be discharged from office after due process.
Marron stressed that the PNP will not tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law and gets involved in illegal drugs. Christian Allister G. Tubadeza (ALT/MTTB/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
