BANGUED, Abra, Feb. 2 (PIA) -- For an ambulance driver, it is not enough to know how to drive and know road traffic safety as the ambulance is a specialized vehicle used to transport sick or injured people to medical treatment facilities. He should also know emergency medical care for his patient on board.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) - Abra Chapter under the leadership of Administrator Ivy Venus Avendaño recently conducted training for ambulance drivers and personnel from the different municipalities in the province.
The ambulance drivers were familiarized on the different tools and equipment of the ambulance and trained on preparatory ambulance operation which includes proper transport, proper endorsement to the hospital. Moreover, the ambulance personnel were also tested with multiple simulation drills including vehicular accidents.
Gerald Reyes of Tubo, Gerardo Sante of San Isidro and Eduardo Javier of La Paz topped the skills training and examination and were given certificate of recognition.
All the participants were given certificate of participation and license from PRC.
Dr. Lilibeth Martin, Provincial Medical Technologist and PRC Board of Director said the training is totally beneficial and important to all the local government units of Abra in responding to incidents. Christian Allister G. Tubadeza (JDP/MTBB/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
