BANGUED, Abra, Oct. 18 (PIA) -- Two Abreñean youth leaders represented the province of Abra in the National Youth Congress for Mental Health 2017 held on October 14–15 in Manila.
The National Youth Congress for Mental Health was a two-day gathering of youth leader-advocates all over the country organized by the Youth for Mental Health Coalition, the National Youth Parliament and the Department of Health. It was aimed to provide a venue for the youth leaders and advocates to discuss issues regarding mental health.
Darren Cariño, Department of Education Abra Youth coordinator and Gherald P. Edaño, a youth advocate, shared that the policies drafted by participants shall serve as recommendations to improve the mental health situation of the country.
The Congress was an initiative set for the 2016-2020 strategic plan of the Youth for Mental Health Coalition which states that, “youth for mental health coalition shall be popularized as the authority on youth mental health issues who can lead discussions and direct the course of mental health situation”.
