BANGUED, Abra, Sept. 14 (PIA) -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has intensified its efforts to implement the anti-drug campaigns in the province to elevate Abra’s status from “drug-cleared” to “drug-free”.
Agent Julius Paderes of PDEA reported during the joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order council and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PPOC-PDAC) at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall last week that there are 21 drug-affected barangays (DAB) in the province.
Eleven are in this capital town, four in Sallapadan, two each in Dolores and Tayum, and one each in Bucay and Licuan-Baay.
He also reported that there are 61 reported drug personalities in Abra with seven already arrested.
The PDEA has been going around the barangays, especially the DAB to give lecture on the anti-drug campaign of the national government.
Paderes also introduced KAIDSOG, a non-government organization chaired by Mr. Jimmy Evaristo that provides intelligence services needed in pursuing the government’s anti-drug campaign. (JDP/Maria Teresa B. Benas–PIA CAR, Abra)
