DOLORES, Abra, Aug. 8(PIA) -- In celebration of its 30th anniversary celebration, National Tobacco Administration Administrator Robert L. Seares spearheaded this year’s Synchronized Tree Planting (STP) here in his hometown last July 31.
The STP in Dolores was participated in by the various national line agencies in the province such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Education, Philippine Information Agency, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, local government agencies, youth, non-government organizations, barangay officials, tobacco farmers and other stake holders of the tobacco industry.
Esmeralda G. Valera, NTA-Abra Branch Manager, informed that STP in Abra has been running for four years now with a total of 362,416 seedlings planted by over 25,562 participants from all over the province.
A unified inter-agency and inter-sectoral response to the National Greening Program of the national government, the NTA’s STP aims to restore the ecological integrity of the tobacco growing regions. Maria Teresa B. Benas (JDP/MTBB – PIA CAR, Abra)
