BANGUED, Abra, July (PIA) -- The Provincial Health Office recently launched the SALAKNIB – Blood Service Network of the province in celebration of the World Blood Donors’ Day on July 20.
SALAKNIB is the localized program of the national government’s Blood Service Network (BSN) which means “Saving and Loving Abra by Knowing and Networking in the Improvement of Blood Services.”
This year’s National Blood Month celebration carried the theme, “Give blood…give now…give often…”
Dr. Lilibeth B. Martin, coordinator of the Provincial Blood Program of the Provincial Health Office, has been persistent in the implementation of blood program particularly the establishment of a “Walking Blood Bank” in the province to facilitate blood donation in times of emergencies.
The SALAKNIB launching was highlighted by the recognition of institutions, agencies, local government units and individuals that have been consistently supporting the blood program of the provincial government.
The agencies that have been consistently helping the PHO in pushing the blood program include the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, Philippine Information Agency, Abra Medical Society, DZPA-CMN, Abra Diocesan Teachers and Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Department of Education, Joy FM, Data Center College of the Philippines, and the LGUs of Dolores, San Juan, Danglas, Luba, San Isidro and Pidigan. There were also individual regular blood donors recognized.
